Todays Tutoring Hours

Become a Tutor!

We would love for you to work with us! Academic coaching (peer tutoring) jobs are paid positions available to students who show strength in the courses they would like to tutor. 

Academic coaches must be Umpqua Community College students taking at least six credits each term. 

Preferred candidates demonstrate these additional qualities:  

  • Interest in helping other students
  • Willingness for personal growth 

If you are considering becoming an academic coach, please contact Marie Gambill, Success Center Coordinator, and she will help you through the application process.

The Success Center provides tutoring/academic coaching resources for UCC students.

  1. Meet with a UCC tutor:
    1. The full schedule of tutors is listed to the left. These hours vary during the term and in the intersession.
  2. Get 24/7 tutoring help through Smarthinking Online Tutoring in Canvas. Click "Smarthinking" in the left Resources menu in Canvas.

The Success Center maintains the right to ask persons who do not follow the UCC Student Code of Conduct and these rules of conduct to leave the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library.

  • No cell phone use in the Success Center.
  • No unattended children under the age of 12.
  • No one under the age of 16 allowed in the computer lab (unless an enrolled UCC student.)
  • No entering or exiting through doors labeled "personnel only" or "emergency exit", except in a case of emergency.
  • When using the Success Center computer lab, abide by the rules and procedures established for the area.
  • Snacks that aren't messy or smelly and drinks are allowed in the Success Center, except in the computer areas.

The Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library is located at 1140 Umpqua College Rd., Roseburg, OR 97470. The primary entrance is located on the side of the building facing away from the parking lot. 

Directions to the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library:

  • Take exit 129 from I-5.
  • If coming from the south, turn right at the stop, and left onto Umpqua College Road.
  • If coming from the north, turn left at the stop sign.
  • Travel East on Umpqua College Road for approximately one mile.
  • The college will be on the left side of the street, the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library is located just after the fountain in front of the Del Blanchard Administration Building.

The Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library has varying hours throughout the year. Please see the Hours page for the most up to date hours.
